Community Action Providing Much Needed Job Training

When a Scioto County resident lost her job due to layoffs, she turned to the Community Action Organization of Scioto County for assistance.

CAO of Scioto County has developed a Workforce Connections employment and job training program that offers valuable job training assistance to help low-income and unemployed residents get the training they need to start a stable career. This laid-off worker, through CAO of Scioto County's program was able to receive training to be a State Tested Nursing Aid (STNA) at Scioto County Career Technical Center.

"[CAC of Scioto County] gave me the chance to get training in a new career," the Scioto County resident said. "[Without the training they provided] it would have been rough to find a decent job." This thankful resident completed her training in November, passed her state test in December, and found a new career as an STNA with a local nursing and rehabilitation facility in January. "The people that worked with me were great," she said. "I think this is a great program. More people need to use it, and appreciate it, and take it seriously."
